Day 5: Rio de Janeiro
Breakfast followed by the Historical City Tour and Catete Palace.
This tour explores Rio's heritage from its beginnings as a Portuguese colony to its time as the capital of Brazil. A highlight is the Catete Palace (formerly the Palace of Nova Friburgo), built between 1858 and 1867. This Florentine-inspired palace served as the residence of 18 Presidents of the Republic until the capital moved to Brasilia in 1960. Today, it houses the Museum of the Republic. Visitors can admire rooms decorated in various European styles, featuring exquisite furniture and ornaments comparable to the halls of Versailles. The visit concludes with a walk through the palace gardens, famous for their Imperial Palms and artificial lakes.
Day 6: Petropolis

Located just an hour from Rio in the mountains, Petropolis offers a cooler climate and tree-lined streets filled with Imperial-era buildings. The tour includes the Imperial Museum (the former Summer Palace of Dom Pedro II). This neoclassical masterpiece features Carrara marble floors and rare Brazilian wood details. The tour also visits the Gothic Cathedral, where the remains of the Imperial family are interred, and the Crystal Palace, which was pre-fabricated in France and hosted grand parties held by Princess Isabel.
