Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer
From almost anywhere in the city, visitors can spot Rio de Janeiro's most beautiful postcard: Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado Mountain. Standing at 710 meters above sea level, this statue was inaugurated in 1931 and has since become one of the city's most visited landmarks. The tour begins in the Cosme Velho neighborhood, where you will board the famous Corcovado Train or tourism vans that wind through the Tijuca Forest, offering marvelous panoramic views of the world's largest urban forest. This enchanting journey perfectly combines Rio’s urban landscape with its exuberant nature. From the feet of Christ, visitors will discover the best panoramic views of Rio, including Guanabara Bay, the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, and the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. After the visit, you will descend Corcovado via train or van to the original boarding point. Stop for lunch, followed by the Sugarloaf Mountain and Panoramic City Tour.
Sugarloaf Mountain and Panoramic City Tour
This portion begins with a tour of Downtown Rio de Janeiro, highlighting the Sambadrome—the venue for the world-famous Carnival samba school parades—and the Metropolitan Cathedral, a pyramid-shaped structure with an internal diameter of 96 meters and a height of 80 meters. We will also visit the traditional Cinelandia square, home to the Municipal Theater, the National Library, and the Assembly building.
After touring the city center, the route continues through the Flamengo neighborhood toward Urca, the location of Rio's other great icon: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar), which in the Guarani language means "high, pointed, and isolated hill." It was at the foot of this hill that Estácio de Sá founded the city of Rio de Janeiro in 1565. The ascent is made in two stages via cable car, the famous "bondinho." The first stage connects Praia Vermelha to Urca Hill, located at an altitude of 215 meters, offering views of Guanabara Bay and its islands, Flamengo Beach, Corcovado Mountain, and the Rio-Niterói Bridge. The second stage continues to the summit of Sugarloaf at 395 meters, providing a unique vantage point of Copacabana Beach, the Santa Cruz Fortress, and the beaches of Niterói. After enjoying the terraces, you will descend via cable car to meet your transport back to the hotel. End of the tour. Free evening.
